What is an Active House ?

An “Active house” by adding comfort goes a little further than Passive’s House philosophy, which is to create low energy buildings.

A great example of an Active House is the Haus am Venusgarten. DI Volker Dienst & DI Christoph Feldbacher transformed a 14th century farmhouse to a contemporary comfortable living space. The  extension was made by massive wood and steel frames. The sensitive “view” of the architects for the project’s intergration  into the existing village is impressive. On the north side, there is a large opening with straight view to the Venus garden and the Danube river, while on the village’s side a wooden facade provides privacy and shading.
