A historic West Village townhouse in Bleecker St NY which built in 1817 was completely renovated by MAD (Matiz architecture & Design).
Custom millwork and a cantilevered wood stair are focal points of the design. The building’s original ceiling beams, exposed brick and wide-plank flooring are contrasted with modern countertops, white-washed woodwork and contemporary art.
By creating an open floor plan and eliminating all full-height partitions, MAD embraced the apartment’s small footprint and transformed it into a light-filled residence. Project in collaboration with Nathalie Goris.
