The project consists of a full basement excavation & construction, rear kitchen extension and full refurbishment of a Victorian terraced family house in Battersea, London. With every square foot of living space at a premium in London, the family decided to extend rather than relocate.
The new basement comprises a bedroom, family room, kitchen and bathroom plus utility room & storage room. It can also be used as a self contained flat for a relative or au pair. On the ground floor a new rear extension holds the new family kitchen and opens up with folding doors to the garden. The rest of the house has also been completely refurbished, including the garden. The new full width kitchen has bifold doors with direct access to the garden. The kitchen island allows family and guests to gather around the chef when cooking.

A white minimalist kitchen from Bulthaup was chosen along with Dinesen wide plank Douglas Fir flooring which gives it a light Scandinavian look. The walk-on glass is a roof light for the basement bedroom. The secluded garden is in sumptuous mediterranean style with shocking pink raised flower beds, lush planting and comfy lounge style cushioned sofas.
