ow colors could influence Moods, Feelings, and Behaviors?

Have you ever been in a room or a space and feel anxious, blue or calmed? That is because among others, color is a dominant element that can affect your mood, feelings, and emotions.

“Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions” – Pablo Picasso

Perception of any color depends on the condition of our eyesight and nervous system. In general, all colors are the reflected light waves, each with an exact length and frequency. While the tones are divided to cold and warm in art, psychologists sort them to active and passive categories.

No doubt, RED is the leader of actives. RED is bright and distinct by itself and becomes a dominant in any space it appears. In addition to this, it activates a human mind and emotional state. The tones which are dominate in environment around us – blue, green, grey, white – make a big contrast with RED. This type of architecture affects people a bit shocking at the beginning. After the first excitement passes, a wish to study the space and building comes to mind.

BLUE is everywhere. The color of the sky and sea is a color of air and water. Even more simply, it can be said – BLUE is a cold color of warm life. This is why BLUE is one of the most mysterious colors from all spectrum. It has many different meanings starting from ancient world – “wealth”, ending with modern society – “corporate color” and lots of them in between. While thinking about BLUE one of the first things you can remember is Blues, music which softly expresses melancholy. It’s usual to use blue in bedroom interiors as it feelscalm like Blues, but it’s also very important not to overuse it because in this case the feeling of calmness may become sadness. One of the main symbolic meaning of BLUE is stability and conservatism.

WHITE, as a color, does not exist. It is a reflection of the beams which drop onto the surface. White is included in the number of achromatic colors and is the most luminous of all. Lighting and color are integral parts of each other, because there is no light without color. The main purpose of color is to express order of architectural elements, determine purpose of spaces in the interior, create visual effects and thus affect a person’s mood, perception of the object, understanding of the information given. White is associated with different emotions, moods and “psychological effects” across cultures. White color is used in order to create clean and calm mood. Technically, the white walls visually increasespace. Hygiene, light, purity, simplicity, innovation, perfection is a feeling, a positive feature of this color.

BLACK objects absorb light and do not reflect any of it. We can even say it is not a color at all, but the absence of the latter. BLACK is the most mysterious from the whole spectrum. This is caused by its relation and association with darkness.  BLACK Architecture is various, as well as the expressions and feelings caused by it. This is a color which can easily be combined with any other tone. This flexibility can be explained by the nature of BLACK itself – no need to compete with others, no need to fight for being seen. The feature of light absorption, gives it a possibility to be at the same level of a perception with any other tone. From the other side, BLACK can be an excellent background.

YELLOW is the Sun, YELLOW is fall, tasty and attractive things in the world are YELLOW. This is a color of optimism and joy. YELLOW is the brightest color from all spectrum. It has also a deep cultural meaning in Chinese civilization. It is a color of happiness, wisdom and glory. This is a color which is attractive and awakes an interest and curiosity. YELLOW stimulates positive feelings, so this is why it is often used in spaces for kids and other social and common areas which are oriented to support a positive and lively mood.

GREEN
Nowadays it mostly subsumes sustainable architecture and plant-encrusted buildings. Green is one of the most interesting architectural colors with its life-giving ability and a habit of instantly grabbing attention. The GREEN colored materials are rarely used in architecture and it is logical, as it is possible to add green to project in different ways – using plants, landscape view framed by window or other. Green is the color between blue and yellow, this is why it unites all meanings of those two in itself. GREEN – is life, evolution, development. GREEN is the color of nature and planet defenders, though it is often associated with money and emotions related with it. It is a color of army, as the uniform colored green provides a good camouflage. Green unites coolness and warmth in itself. It is a very stable and harmonic color.
